THE UPSTAIRS ROOM!

Introductory
“It was the only place they knew of and was safe” that was from the book The Upstairs Room” by Johanna Reiss. The genre is historical fiction. It is about two young Jew girls that go into hiding, and away from their family members. Then they meet these kids named Opoe, Joanne Dientije, and the Mother. Well they are not all kids as you can tell; anyway they all take care of these two young girls (sisters). They take the girls up to this empty room which has a dresser, and two beds. The girls have to stay there for a very long time until the war stops mostly. They have to stay completely quiet until a certain time. Finally the time comes to go downstairs to eat and have breakfast and chat. But, the problem is every time they hear either knocking or the doorbell they dash quietly to their room they’re staying in. I think you will get the book once you read it.

My Reaction
I think the most interesting thing in this book is how they speak, like towards the middle of the book they keep repeating “O-GOD-O-GOD-O-GOD” which to me is really weird also, it’s really sad when they get dropped off at the neighbors and won’t see their family for a while because it’s just not right. The first thing I was talking about was when they keep repeating   O-GOD-O-GOD-O-GOD” it gets annoying after a while I’m just saying. If you read this book you will know what I mean, and etc.

Closing Paragraph
Overall I think this book is really good. I recommend this book to people who like historical fiction books. and learning about historical fiction books.
